Are we on schedule?

How the Saturdays were established
They made their recording debut in 2008 with the record label Fascination records.
A little bit about Fascination records:
It is a UK based record label owned by universal musical group and operated as an imprint of polydor records. The label was launched in Spring 2006 and concentrates on a relatively small amount of pop acts.
Pre established artists:
The Saturdays
Girls Aloud

Miley Cyrus
Selena Gomez
The Jonas Brothers
They are also responsible for many soundtracks including:
St Trinians
Skins
and Mamma Mia
The Saturday's 'Missing You' was released on 16th August 2010 and was written by Alexander Kronlund. The single received mostly negative critics but reached 6th in Ireland and 3rd in the UK charts.
Filming Day 5
Location: Sophie's house
Time: 2:00pm
The plan for the day:
- Film individual basic shots including close ups and full length.
- To get some filming of us as a group for the chorus.
- To get extreme close ups as well as action shots including feet and arms (this would bring a significance to our coloured heels.)
- Get natural 'laughing' shots of us walking and interacting with props in the house.
Pictures from Day 5:

- Yes, the shooting went really well today. We managed to spend a couple of hours getting a variety of shots that would be relevant and strong enough to use in our video.
Problems with today:
- We were a little tight for time, with a time slot of only two hours there were many more shots we could have filmed that we did not get the chance to. This is not a big problem for us as we have set aside some extra time on Monday for any re-filming or extra shots.
Re-filming will be decided after the review of our music video so far in Friday's class.
Monday
How have we used scenery to relate to The Saturdays?
Friday
Filming Day 4

- The location of the barn house was very dim, this made it very hard for us to get brightly lit shots.
- The camera was somewhat broken, and kept zooming in and out on its own. This made it extremely difficult for us to get the right shot as we had to move the whole camera around instead of being able to use the zoom button.
- We found it hard to work with the space that we had as the rooms seemed smaller when we were trying to film and frame our shots.
- The furniture in the house did not relate to our genre well, it seemed old fashioned which was not good as we wanted to portray a modern look.
- Finally, the camera on the battery died! That was when we realised that today's filming was not meant to be!
What did we do next? We decided on a relocation... Due to the dim lighting in the barn house we needed to find another filming space, consequently we chose Sophie's house, her house was particularly homely and very well lit!
After dismissing filming we realised we were now placed behind schedule. We plan to film on Friday and this will be at Sophie's house. We also hope that the new location will be better for us as the house belongs to one our own members!
Tuesday
The plan for Filming Day 4
We also decided, we would focus on our group shots first before incorporating and filming the flashbacks involving Emily and Joe.
We planned to film:
- The final chorus of the song
- The anti climax of the song (miss missing, miss missing)
For the anti climax section, these are the shots we planned to include:
- close up shots (of the entire group)
- Another close up shot of Jodie (as she sings this part)
For the final chorus we planned to include these shots:
- group shots of us all, preferably in a big open space (long shot)
- close up shots of the group (this would also include singing)
- A selection of low and high angle shots (we could use the stairs to do this by having the camera at the top or the bottom of the stairs which would be opposite to where we were standing.)
- A shot of the group from the front
- A shot of the group from behind
- Action shots
We also wanted to include some jokey shots to use. The jokey shots would relate well to our story line as we represent friends that stick together. We thought about using shots that showed us;
- dancing around a room
- running up and down the stairs
- laughing around the table
- entering the house together
- leaving the house together
With such a detailed plan, we were aiming to move quickly. We also planned to have time to play about with our shots looking at different ways we could recreate the happy mood shown in our last chorus.
Filming Day 3
Date: Sunday 3rd October 2010
We arrived at the barn house at 11am, we had all the props and equipment sorted!
We changed into our outfits fairly quickly before realising there was something wrong with our equipment. At first we believed that we had a faulty tape. The film had unravelled in the camera and was not accepting anything. Joe and I travelled to Broxbourne to get a new tape. This took about 20 minutes. Once back at the barn house we tried our new tape, unfortunately the tape was not the problem it was our camera! We called the school but could not get through to anyone. Our Luck was down for the day as we realised we would have to reschedule.
While at the barn house we used the opportunity to take some pictures of the internal location. This would also save us time when re-filming:
Plan for day 3 filming
The barn house has large windows and an open balcony, this will enable us to film the shots we wish to.
We will all wear black dresses and different coloured heels. This will ensure this shoot is completely different to our Epping Forest scenes. It will also link well to the example of the girl group we are imitating (The Saturday's).
Here is a picture of the Saturdays in their black dresses:
Joe and Emily will also feature in this shoot. At the barn we will film the flashbacks; this will include Emily and Joe arguing which will be an ongoing story throughout our music video.
The barn is very similar to this on the outside, the large windows at the front are the same:
Equipment needed:
- Camera
- Tripod
- Tape
Props needed
- high heels (four different colours)
- black dresses
- Clear tights
- A suitcase for Emily to pull
- Clothes for Emily to pack
