Time: 2:00pm
Location: Sophie's house
The aim of today was to film all Emily and Joe's flashbacks and the audio drama before the music starts. I feel the filming went well as we achieved all that was scheduled for.
How we demonstrated new techniques:
We wanted to demonstrate higher skills than what we had used at As. We did this by using two cameras and filming one scene from two different angles. We hoped this would help us achieve match on action and the best shot reverse shot sequence. We believe this may be tricky to edit but wanted to give it a go anyway.
Overall, this idea worked very well. The only problem we faced was making sure the other camera was not in the shot. Both myself and Laura were operating the cameras and we took extra caution to ensure each shot was framed correctly. We were unaware what the results were going to be but hoped that the two cameras would make the scene look more professional rather than filming the same scene twice from different angles.
Below i have included pictures of flashback shots and angles.
The most imaginative shot of the day:
I came up with the idea that we could film Emily from inside the car. Emily would be putting her suitcase in the car so to get a front shot of her doing this would give us an advanced camera technique. We did not use the tripod for this so i used my hand to keep the camera very steady. We had to film this shot a few times because we wanted to ensure we framed Emily in the centre.
Although we are stripped for time, I believe we will be able to show a first cut after half term. The only concern we had with this deadline is that we did not want our shots to look rushed. A lot of filming today was done without the tripod as we wanted to speed up filming time and capture a variety of angles. We managed to film all the shots we had planned and more which we thought of whilst filming.
